Battview Matters After School Club has come about through a survey of families in the geographical area on the North Side of Charleville.
A need was identified for homework supports for primary school children in both the Hillview Drive and Bat Donegan Place housing estates. The survey was undertaken by the project worker employed under the Community and Family Support Project. This is an integrated initiative funded through the partner organisations, TUSLA , Respond Support CLG, Ballyhoura Development CLG and Cork County Council over a three year period.
There are currently 10 children from the locality attending the afterschool service on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons each week. The service receives additional funding for this service from TUSLA and funding for refreshments is received through SICAP.
The After School Activity Leader, is employed by Respond Support CLG and the service is also supported by the Project worker from the Integrated Project, employed by Ballyhoura Development CLG and one volunteer comes one afternoon a week. Co-ordination and some direct support is given by the Family Support Co-ordinator from Respond Support CLG.
This project is co-funded by Ballyhoura Development CLG, Cork County Council, Tusla and Respond Support GLG.
The Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP) 2018-2022 is funded by the Irish Government through the Department of Rural and Community Development and co-funded by the European Social Fund under the Programme for Employability, Inclusion and Learning (PEIL) 2014-2020.
