Hilltop Childcare is open 5 days per week 8.45 to 6.30. As a community based service we operate the Early Childhood Care and Education Programme, the Community Childcare Subvention Scheme and the Training Education Childcare Programmes.  These programmes funded by the Department of Children and Youth Affairs and administered by Pobal support us in providing a high quality childcare service affordable to all families in the surrounding areas of Killenaule.  As part of Budget 2016 the ECCE programme can now facilitate children from age 3 to school going age (max 5 years 6 months at the end of the Preschool year).  Free ECCE September 2016 places run from September to June similar to a school year so amount provided free is 38 weeks.  To make sure that Children can benefit from Free pre-school as soon as they are eligible there are three different enrolment points September, January and April subject to availability of places and capacity of the service.

Hilltop After-School has been opened since 2002 and caters for primary school children.  Hours are from 2pm-6.30pm from Monday to Friday. Children are collected each day by two members of staff from 2.00pm & 3.00pm. At Hilltop we provide a homework club, lunch, outdoor and indoor activities that are age appropriate and stimulating for the children that attend. All staff recently completed HighScope training,  HighScope is a quality approach to early childhood care and education which has been shaped and developed by research and practice over a forty year period.

We currently have 20plus children enrolled in the Hilltop After-School. We work very closely with our local community and local nursing home where the children visit and entertain the residents with their choir. Throughout the year we ask various members of our society to speak to the children about various topics deemed appropriate e.g. Garda on topics such as bulling and the fire service on the dangers of fire etc..We also provide a Summer School for the month of July. If your require any further information please do not hesitate to contact Bernadette.
